Mewtwo Matchups According to High Level Players

A lot of competitive players and pros have been posting matchup charts for their characters lately, so I thought it would be useful to compile a complete list of what people think of Mewtwo as an opponent. Not only is it interesting to see what good players think about Mewtwo, but it might also help out in matchup discussions.

For the purposes of this thread, I'm going to listing it from the PERSPECTIVE OF MEWTWO (so if someone puts down Mewtwo as a -1 on their chart, that means it's a +1 for Mewtwo). Some charts are also more ambiguous than others, or follow different rules. I'm leaving them as-is because I don't know if the original poster meant +1 as 60:40 or 55:45 or what.

As of this initial post, it's interesting to see that most people put Mewtwo roughly in the realm of even, and even the worst matchup is still seen as -2 (Zero Suit Samus).

I don't have time at the moment to source all of the posts, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Could you make an overarching number system instead of the various ones? You could make a definitions list otherwise.

I disagree with Diddy and MK.

35:65 is close to a virtually unwinnable matchup. Mewtwo, while disadvantaged, definitely has the potential to fight MK if he plays it correctly. I would say MK would probably be around 45:55 I haven't played any dedicated MK pros but I did play Larry Lurr's MK around 5 matches and it was close.

As for Diddy I am 100% certain Diddy is a bad matchup for us, I would say it has to be worse than MK, although I don't know how bad it can get to be.

I think Yoshi might be 45:55 on his favor. Maybe Mario and Fox should be -2, but I don't have such a strong feeling towards the late 2.

Diddy is weird. Banana is only as strong as the Diddy's ability to mix it up, no matter who he's facing so it's hard to label it a specific disadvantage for Mewtwo. Beyond that he has a bunch of very good but not outstanding tools like his dtilt combos and fair, which are tricky for Mewtwo but not too difficult... if it's a disadvantage it's a small one, because whenever I am beaten by one I feel genuinely outplayed instead of cheesed out.

Mario's got combos and frame data over Mewtwo, but not range and both have comparable mobility.

Xzax and Larry fightRichbrown a lot. So they probably know the MU pretty well. Though, they might not have counterplay for him yet, which could skewer results. Also, Void plays M2 in friendlies and such.

Lol @ Zan saying that TL has an advantage on Mewtwo, despite him saying on stream a few weeks ago he goes MK vs Mewtwo because he feels its too hard to win with TL.

I actually completely agree with a lot of the ones in the OP. Rosa feels really even. DK characters give me a lot of trouble (in different ways)
I agree with Chiroz Chiroz with Yoshi possibly being 55 45, I'm not too experienced in it though :c
Sonic probably even or 55 45 his favor

I think the number for Mario is fine. Mewtwo loses but slightly.

I made some small updates, labeling what versions the opinions are based on (updating accordingly), and adding new ones for ESAM's 1.1.5 opinion, and Majiro (Japanese player)'s thoughts on Lucario.

Up to you to add this, but 2ManyCooks, one of the best Doc players, says that Doc wins against Mewtwo. He's played against Rich Brown.

I don't really agree with it (I think it's even), but since this matchup chart is based on what high players think, I thought I might mention it.
