The official Wario Video Analysis Thread (used in conjunction with MU rediscussion)

Ok so I was originally going to post this in the diddy MU thread, however, there is so much that can be said about watching certain videos and the good and the bad of any match that I think this deserves its own thread. Basically, Im going to find good and offline matches between wario and whichever character is currently being discussed in the MU rediscussion thread and post them here. If you have a video that you guys feel should be included that I may have missed just post it and if I deem it worty it will be added to the OP

We will then pick apart the matches and post what we think the wario was doing right (and we should also do) and what the wario was doing wrong (that we should avoid doing). Just pick a match and pick specific points of it (please include a specific match time) and then comment on what you think about it. We can then agree,disagree, debate etc and hopefully by the end of it all we will have some solid tactics in every important MU.

So currently we will be analyzing matches vs diddy kong. Here are some good ones that I found.

Lets make this organized. Instead of just Jumbling everything togethere when we start getting a lot of characters we can use the collapse feature. I mentioned this to Snap I think.

It would look something like this...

or you can use the more smileys option. I just remember everything by its coding.

Remove the periods and it will show it as the images/collapse feature.

to ad the characters icon just click on the more smilies button. IDK how do the other thing.

Alrighty. I'll start things off then. 1st vid Im analyzing is malcolm vs adhd 1.

At 0:03 right off the bat when the match starts, malcolm steals one of adhd's bananas because he tried to pull out two of them. So from that we know that if we are playing against any diddy on any stage where wario and diddy are the same distance away as they are in SV, diddy should not be able to pull out 2 bananas.

at 0:09 we can see the application of using sh fair more often than usual in the diddy MU. As even if we dont hit him with it, we can still catch a banana if he throws one at us.

At 0:31 notice that when diddy side-b's and then leaps into the air, his options are a bit limited. He can either Fair (most diddies will do this and it worked on malcolm in the vid), he can jump away (IF he has his double jump) or he can try to either land behind you or in front of you. So whenever your at low % and diddy side-b's you, remember their options and you will most likely be able to punish even if its just for a bit of damage.

at 0:43 malcolm kind of throws out a random f-smash. I would say use f-smash sparingly in this MU unless your SURE its going to hit.

1:28 another f-smash that doesnt connect. Most of the time you will get punished if you try to use this against diddy as a get out of my face move.

2:52 upthrow is a nice choice as it can lead to juggling diddy at lower % when fthrow would just land him far away from you on the stage.

All in all, I would say malcolm was playing too aggressively this match and fell into a lot of banana traps that he shouldnt have. Landing the fart against diddy is very helpful (as it is with any mu) since hes relatively light and has trouble killing.

Im playing really campy at the beginning to try and get free fart charge. However, I made the mistake of not approaching gnes when he threw away one of his bananas at 18. I think that with only 1 bananas, he was much less of a threat and I could have dealt at least a bit of damage.

at 0:25 I make a mistake that malcolm made in his match too. Dont ever try to bite diddy when he has a banana in front of him or in hand.

At 1:28, this is something I hate that diddys do. The backwards down glide toss trap. Its really smart to save your double jump in case they do something like this (which they often will) and unfortunately I had used mine which led to me getting f-smashed.

at 1:41 if you have used your double jump and you think diddy is going to throw a naner at you, you can pull out your bike as you touch the ground and that way you will just drive through it and not trip. (Thats what I did haha)

2:20 See how I get super aggressive here because diddy doesnt have any bananas? It usually works out for the best if you blitz him when hes bananaless as it did in this case where I landed the f-smash and evened the game back up.

2:49, if diddy pulls out a banana as you grab him, immediately upthrow. That way you get the damage on him and he cant punish your trip. This needs some reaction time but if you know what to do in that situation then you will be better prepared to react to it.

3:58 once again being super aggressive when diddy kong doesnt have banana control works amazingly. This instance netted me 69% (oolala) on him.

at 4:19 at high % you can save yourself from diddies f-smash if you Sdi the first hit of it up and away from him.

4:45 diddy is really easy to gimp if you can correctly predict what hes going to do.

5:17 was supposed to be an f-smash

5:34 I make the mistake of taking the pressure off of diddy and letting him have his banana control back.

6:42 the more aggro diddy gets, the better. Usually he will lose a banana or even two if he gets impatient in his wanting to kill you and throws them at you while your near the edge of the stage. He may start jumping at you in the air and going for upairs and fairs too which is what you want because in the air wario>diddy.

6:50, I make the mistake of being in his zone while he has both naners out and it leads to me almost losing my final stock.

Two videos is good for now. I might do some more later today.
