im just wondering because I want to play smash bros. 3DS competitively but it seems 3DS doesn't have the competitive community melee or Wii U does.

I don't think you can since it's wireless. Don't most tournaments banned wireless controllers?Yeah, the competitive community all migrated to the Wii U version. The best thing available for you would be to connect your Ds to the Wii u in a tournament if they allow that.
Some tournaments allow any controller, except the Wii U Gamepad. Fun fact: one of our top players in Portugal uses his 3ds to play on the Wii U.I don't think you can since it's wireless. Don't most tournaments banned wireless controllers?
And I don't think anyone will want to use the 3DS as a controller on the Wii U right?
Hm... nice fact. Some tournaments allow any controller, except the Wii U Gamepad. Fun fact: one of our top players in Portugal uses his 3ds to play on the Wii U.
Yes you can only use it in regular, special and 8 player smash. Everything else (including online) is a no-3DS zone.Hm... nice fact.
I recently had a chance to try GC controller again, and man, can't get used to it yet...
But 3DS can only be use as controller in normal matches right? You can't use it in other modes like trophy rush and home run contest.
And I have use GC controller ever since Melee, I want to get back to my roots.Yes you can only use it in regular, special and 8 player smash. Everything else (including online) is a no-3DS zone.
I'm also trying to get used to the GC Controller for those bigger tournaments where wireless controllers may lag due to the amount of wireless devices present (cellphones, 3DS, etc.). Better be safe than sorry.
